Description:
When I’m viewing the index/folder page.
I want to be able to edit it
So I can describe what is in the links/folders
Current behaviour
No way to edit the index page
Expected beharviour
Ability to edit the index page in a Doc.
For reference:
I see a way of making a folder/index the same as a document, in google drive a folder and doc would have the same name while in ynaw you’d see a doc which is a parent of other docs.
This is the feature I miss the most in YNAW. When using corporate wikis such as Confluence I expect to be able to create “parent” and “child” articles. In YNAW I’m constantly making articles with the very same name as the folders they are inside, to describe what that group of articles is. I like Roel’s solution. For me it’s important that the folder that contains documents is just as editable as the documents themselves.
Thanks for letting me know @Pedro Câmara
I was thinking of naming the doc “wiki.page” in Drive.
Would that work for you or would you prefer it to be the same name as the folder?
Any way would work for me :) As long as there’s an easy way for the newbie user to find out how to do this.
This is currently possible by creating a document called “wiki.page” within a folder (do not include the quotes).
Adding {{files}} to the doc will show the list of files.
This naming convention may change in the future as it is built, but will be communicated on this ticket.
More work is required to integrate this into the UI so it’s not just a hidden feature.
If there’s any additional feedback for this let me know.
Going forward I’ll be using wiki.page in the Drive folder for the index page and {{files}} in the document to position the children.
There won’t be a concept of folders as far as the wiki is concerned. You will just have pages that can nest. In Drive this will still be represented as folders and docs.
You will now see an edit button on the folder after adding the wiki.page doc in Drive.
There is some additional work to enable an edit button without having to create a wiki.page doc in drive first.
