Greater sustainability through more appealing premium tier for individuals.#574

This is great SaaS, truly SaaS with no bait-and-switch where you join for the software and stay for the lock-in. One of the greatest things about it, and why I don’t mind paying for it against all the alternatives, is that if it goes away tomorrow all the work I’ve done on it will still be mine and intact.

For individuals there’s some value-prop to go premium, but not enough for the price except as a sort of “donation tier.” Rather than creating a separate pricing tier for individuals )which might enable businesses to feel justified in sharing one individual account) just add some more painful-to-maintain features behind premium. What is painful to maintain won’t always be obvious to me as the end-user so I leave that to you. I would say editing via an iframe with publish-to-web might be a good example of this.

If there’s a feature that’s a real hassle to continually support, and isn’t table stakes for the software to be useful to people - especially those starting with an existing drive directory - those are (as I’m sure the maintainer has already thought about) great ones to put behind premium. And obviously anything that’s free today should not be put behind premium.

I agree an individual/supporter tier is a good idea. I’ll set something up.
