Anchor Link Navigation Opens New Tabs Instead of Scrolling on Wiki.Page#557

Summary:
Users have reported an issue where clicking on links that should navigate to headings within the same wiki page is instead opening the same page in a new browser tab. This unexpected behavior disrupts the user experience by not allowing in-page navigation through anchor links.

Description:
In-page links, typically used for creating a table of contents or index page, are expected to scroll the user to the relevant heading within the same page without reloading or redirecting. However, when these links are clicked, they are opening an entirely new tab with the same wiki.page document, rather than jumping to the specified section.

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Create a wiki.page with multiple headings.
  2. Add in-page links (anchor links) to these headings.
  3. Click on the in-page links to navigate to the headings.
  4. Observe that a new tab opens with the same page, rather than scrolling to the heading in the current tab.

Expected Behavior:
The in-page link should smoothly scroll to the corresponding heading within the same document upon being clicked.

Actual Behavior:
The in-page link opens a new tab with the same wiki.page document instead of scrolling to the desired section.

Impact:
This bug affects the usability of the wiki, as users cannot efficiently navigate long documents using in-page links.

Workaround:
Currently, no workaround is available that allows the in-page links to function as intended.

Recommendation:
A review of the wiki.page hyperlink functionality is needed to ensure anchor links behave as expected, facilitating smooth navigation within the same page.

Additional Information:
The issue has been replicated using index pages named wiki.page, as referenced in the documentation for creating index pages.
