Google Sheet Embedding Results in 400 Error#555

Summary:
Users attempting to embed a Google Sheet into a wiki page through the You Need A Wiki (YNAW) platform are experiencing a 400 error. The issue persists despite standard troubleshooting efforts such as cache clearing and permission checks.

Description:
When creating a Google Sheet via the YNAW interface and attempting to embed it into a wiki page, a 400 error message appears upon refreshing the page. The error message indicates that the request is malformed and should not be retried.

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Create a Google Sheet using the YNAW platform’s interface.
  2. Attempt to embed the newly created Google Sheet into a YNAW wiki page.
  3. Refresh the page to view the embedded Google Sheet.
  4. Observe the 400 error.

Expected Behavior:
The Google Sheet should be successfully embedded into the wiki page and viewable upon refreshing the page without any errors.

Current Behavior:
A 400 error is displayed instead of the embedded Google Sheet content.

Evidence:
Screen recordings have been provided by the user, demonstrating the process they followed and the resulting error. In the recording, the user:

  • Creates the file via YNAW.
  • Edits the file in Google Sheets and inputs data.
  • Returns to the YNAW platform and refreshes the page.
  • Encounters a 400 error message.

Additional Context:
User has confirmed that they have cleared their browser cache and cookies.
The sharing settings of the Google Sheet were verified to be correct.
Other users have not been able to replicate the error following the same steps.

Workaround:
While our team is investigating this issue, users may consider the following temporary solution:

Linking Directly to the Google Sheet: Instead of embedding, provide a direct link to the Google Sheet on the wiki page. Ensure that the sharing settings on the Google Sheet are configured to allow anyone with the link to view the document. This method bypasses the embedding process and should prevent the 400 error from occurring.

This workaround allows users to access the full functionalities of the Google Sheet while the embedding issue is being addressed.

We will be moving to in-page sheets in the future which will resolve this issue.
