If you are a user of the YNAW, just click, drag to highlight any text in your document. The Link to window appears. This is not desirable. The YNAW should be read only.
I agree it’s not a good experience. I’ll note you can switch this off in settings by unchecking the “Link to” checkbox.
Long term the plan was to turn this into a formatting, comment and link to menu, also known as a context menu.
Here are a couple of options going forward, let me know if any of these would fit your needs.
Hi Grant,
Thanks for the prompt response! I would recommend doing the simplest, fastest fix - your first option: making it read only (no menu).
I’d be surprised if people would start complaining, since the vast majority of users are readers and not editors. Plus, if they want to edit and add a link, they can use Google Docs.
If people STILL continue to complain, then “Read only by default, able to enable formatting menu via settings” as a fallback.
Appreciate it Mark.
I can switch it to default off quickly while I review the data, and if it’s not being used I’ll remove it.
Thanks again
Thanks Grant! When should we expect the changed become live? Or do we need to do something to refresh and update our plug-in on our end?
It will be up by Monday
Off is now the default for the Link to menu, it can be re-enabled via settings.
Thank you!
I like the idea of a plus menu with a settings option to turn it on/off. The easy linking is one thing I really like about YNAW over using google docs to link.
Thank you for the feedback.
