With a lot of suggestion from the community, it would be sad to see YANW die because a single developer’s output cannot keep up. Open-sourcing the project could address this issue. That would inehrently allow people to self-host for free, but maybe that’s okay?
I’m open to it - with some pro features being left as private and imported via a separate package. Let me know if that would work.
I would just like to check with some fellow software project owners to get some feedback on the idea before I open it up :)
Sounds like a great solution.
An open source core with “premium” extensions is a model I’ve seen on other projects, also opens the door to third parties developing their own if you wanted to go that way.
Sounds excellent, Grant. I’d be very interested in this also. The pro features being a separate package sounds like a good idea too!
There is similar open source software now. It is not offered as a service. Instead you need to deploy it yourself. github.com/pingcap/gdocwiki
