Create a page from a selection / link#216

?

One key wiki feature (actually, the one I came here lookig for) is the ability to be able to type some text, then create a page with that title from the text (e.g., [Blah] in Confluence). I can’t seem to figure out how to do that if it is possible - it would be extrememly helpful to be able to do that. Simplest implementation would be to just add a “create doc” option in the “Link to” popup…

Thanks!

Interesting idea.
I’ll just confirm that this would be selecting the text and then being able to create a page with the name of the text that is selected.

Once the new doc is created would you want that text to automatically link to the new doc?

Good idea to implement. Your plementation idea makes sense.

We would very much like this feature since we need to create a large tree of interlinked documents, and doing that manually and copy-pasting titles etc takes time.

Thinking about this further, this could just be an addition to the existing “Link to” feature upon text selection. For example, the first line could be “Create a new document”. There could also be a “Search” there to link to an existing document, since the directory tree now takes up the whole screen and it takes some time to find the existing document to link to (typing a word from the document’s title to narrow it down to less than 5 would be so much quicker).

After using YNAW for 2 or 3 days, the automatic Link feature seems extremely annoying. Most of the time we want to select and copy the text. What often happens is that we create links by accident which we then have to remove.
